Big Brother 26-Mels Recap Friday 7/26/24

1 week down and a whole lot more to go! I’ll do a quick catch up leading up to the eviction and cover what was talked about last night in the house. I’m always excited for the first eviction, mostly because it’s the first. It’s usually not that exciting of an episode but last night was an exception. But first….

I did the last recap before Wednesdays episode and I was happy to see the spelling comp back in rotation. I also liked the new spin they put on it by eliminating letters. I had 2 thoughts during the comp. I kept thinking about Cathy getting stuck in the ‘honey’ or goo on BB12. (great episode!) I also wondered why hosting the comp required Tucker to be shirtless.

T’Kor and Kimo have made their F2 and both want to work with Quinn. Kimo’s been quite but he’s gaming. He’s close to T’Kor but he’s keeping the info about Quinns power to himself and his side alliance with the Have Not guys.

They finally solidified that one in the storage room. This alliance includes Kimo, Quinn, Cam and Tucker. (It’s just a means to an end type of alliance in my opinion)

For the record, if you don’t watch the feeds, this is why Angela called Matt “crazy eyes.” She wasn’t knocking his appearance as he’s obviously very handsome. He just has animated expressions when he’s talking. (Which was almost ALL the time) They haven’t shown this on the episodes. (It was still childish of Angela to say it but wanted to clear that part up at least)

Love Angela or hate her, she didn’t bully Matt. She went off the rails and gave a negative speech about him. (That’s not bullying) It’s actually kind of a big brother staple. Angela’s kitchen speech had vibes closer to Dan’s funeral on BB14, Brett calling out a made up alliance with Rockstar on BB20 and Keasha’s birthday on BB10. It was nothing like the way the Greatful alliance treated Nicole and Kemi on BB21, Paul’s minions treated people on BB19 or Evil Dick treated alot of people during BB8.

Angela’s last bit of time as the HOH:

Matt and MJ talked more about a shomance on their last night together. She was trying to ease out of it. When Matt asked if he thought they’d hang out after they were out of the house, MJ said she planned on hanging out with everyone. (Well, except Angela) Matt was kind of trying to guilt her into ‘mancing’ and was using production to talk her into it. He said he could tell production really wanted it and even ended up telling her it’s the only reason he came on the show. (It’s weird he got upset that Angela said he’d probably get in a showmance when come to find out, that was his goal all along)

I don’t think this is entirely Matt’s fault. Sure, he’s got a huge ego. He spent all week talking as if the rest of the cast was just his ‘supporting cast.’ He’s a young guy and has some maturing to do but based on things he’s said, I think it’s what he was sold by production. (You’ll be a main character, you should get in a shomance, etc.)

The truth is, Matt was terrible at the game. He told the HOH he’d come after her if she put him on the block. His way of campaigning was to tell people if they voted him out, it would be them agreeing with Angela’s treatment of him. You can milk something too long and he tried to make what Angela did worse than what it was in reality. Angela didn’t actually talk shit about his mom but I get it. It was an angle he thought he could work. People just weren’t falling for it and frankly, were tired of hearing about it.

Leah continued to make the round with the guys and the gals on Wednesday and Thursday. She needs to start talking game more but I can’t knock her social game. Everyone wants to work with her. It seems most just wanted to separate her from Matt and MJ first.

Angela’s soooo petty! (Haha) To be fair, Lisa said she didn’t want anything to do with Angela inside or outside the game. Lisa’s also already gotten annoyed that Angela isn’t trying to talk to her. (I mean, what the hell do you want Lisa??)

Kenney’s working his game by sitting alone and having coffee. I know he doesn’t really fit in with the younger guys but he also hasn’t tried. He volunteered to go on the block again last night.

I was pleasantly surprised at another comp anyone could win last night for the AI comp. BB is on a roll so let’s hope they keep it up.

I was happy for Kimo that he won it because it felt like he could use the confidence boost. It’s hard to be a pawn on week 1. I guess I was proud of production too because do you know how easy it would’ve been for them to have lied and said Matt won? That was a hard comp to keep track of and I don’t think any of us would’ve known. You know they wanted their shomance to stay.

I also liked the way the rest of the cast couldn’t watch the comp. We got to see genuine reactions when they found out who won. Angela’s expression:

Angela was pretty proud of herself and I found that hilarious. She thinks her speech turned the house around and got people to vote Matt out. The truth is, she didn’t have anything to do with it. I know the show edited it so it would appear Matt was her target. He actually wasn’t. Matt was almost everyone else’s target tho. She even had to be talked into putting him up. It’s because Matt had her convinced he had the house on his side. She didn’t want to risk putting him up if he wasn’t going to leave.

It’s also the reason Lisa voted to keep him. She wanted to make sure she voted with ‘the house.’ Quinn told her he thought the vote was going on Matt. He was trying to give her a heads up but she didn’t believe him. (Now she’s denying it was her but no one is buying it)

This is Quinn saying “I beat you too Zach” during his vote. He’s referencing when Cory made it past week 1 last year and said “beat you Zach.” (Zach is Cory’s brother and was voted out week 1 on his season of Survivor)

I loved Joseph saying they weren’t gonna do what they do on every other BB season when he voted. (He meant NOT voting out a physical threat early when they had the chance)

What I loved even more was Joseph’s confusion after he voted. Here he is in the hallway waiting and checking his hair:

I guess he forgot he was the last one to vote. He was waiting for the next person to come into the hallway before he left. He barely made it back to the living room as Julie was reading the votes!

The only thing I didn’t like about the episode last night was Cedric and Chelsie having to put back on their costumes from the hoh comp. They blocked most of the screen at the end of the episode!

Kenney and Matt’s last moments together:

This is MJ and Leah at the end of the episode talking about how Angela would be going next. Even later into the night, they seemed pretty confident about it. I don’t know how you could be so sure the entire house wanted Angela out next when you didn’t know how the entire house was voting and hour or two earlier.

Matt’s out and it’s a new week. I think I heard Julie say you could find Matts goodbye messages on Instagram. I’m sure someone will clip it and put it on Twitter too.

Kenney just seems like he’s over it at this point. Someone should have done this guy a solid and let him in on the secret. Matt had decided he wanted to keep Lisa over Kenney if the noms hadn’t changed. I guess no one bothered to tell him.

Tucker made Lisa a have not, just as he said he’d do if he got the chance. MJ volunteered along with Leah and Rubina. MJ said she did it so everyone could see her head was still in the game and not on Matt.

MJ knew she was in trouble last night. She was doing what she could to get back in with people a bit more. She’s back to pushing a girls alliance but some arn’t buying it. Chelsie told T’Kor about MJ saying ” I’m going to start talking to people more.” Chelsie said “now that your guy is out, you care.”

Leah had a long talk with T’KOR about how much they loved each other and blah, blah, blah:

Chelsie won the HOH comp but didn’t want it. She knew she was in a good spot but said Leah was still in it so she said she “felt like she had to take it.” I don’t know who all three noms will be but it sounds like her target is Lisa. (I told y’all the other day, Chelsea did NOT appreciate the way Lisa came at her and a couple of others in the hammock)

When MJ talked with Chelsie, she told her she has an upgrade power. I’m sure MJ did it to build trust. (Most of them still thik Lisa has the other one) Chelsie was already thinking about putting MJ on the block. Now she’s debating if she should still do it just to flush out the power. It sounded as if she may want her noms to be Lisa, MJ and Leah but possibly Kenney or Angela in the mix as pawns. (Angela because she went around Wednesday and Thursday telling everyone she knew she was going to be on the block this week. Kenney because he volunteered)

All I know is, Angela may have been saying she knew she’d be going up but she won’t handle it well if she does. I think she’s only been saying that because she wants people to reassure her that she won’t be. Look at how paranoid she was all week when she was in power. I can’t imagine what this week will be like when she has none.

I think it may have been a good thing Chelsie won the HOH even though I understood she was in a good spot and wanted to lay low. There’s been some talk and I think people are starting to catch on about the 3 of Cam, Chelsea and Cedric.

I think it could be a fun week if somehow Lisa and Angela are both on the block. I don’t want either one of them to get evicted but it could make for some fun feeds!
